It was designed by Werner March in the Nazi architectural style and was inspired by the archtecture of ancient Rome.

Waldbühne is an open air amphitheatre. Glockenturm 77m high and Maifeld, an enormous assembly ground are in front. Public swimming pools and sport fields are in the north. Refurbishment 2004 changed the stadion to a high tech arena.
