Schloss Charlottenburg was first designed by Johann Arnold Nering. Construction startet in 1695. Between 1701 and 1713 the palace was enlarged by Johann Friedrich Eosander adding a baroque cupola and the famous oarangery. Neuer Flügel designed by Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff was erected between 1740 and 1746 under Frederick the Great.
The park surrounding the former royal summer residence in Charlottenburg is one of the most pitoresque places in Berlin.
